Pasta Feed Information
We have eight dates  for home pasta feeds.  If you are interested in being a host or if you are willing to be a helper to a host, please contact Marianne Greer (
Marianne@greers.us) to sign up.

The pasta feeds are a popular event with the cross country team.  In the past about ¾ of the team attends each of the feeds.  The athletes usually arrive by 5:00 PM and continue to stagger in until 6:00.  They are gone by 7:15.

A suggested menu is on our website as well as estimated quantities for 50 athletes (there might be more athletes attending this year because our team is bigger).  Each pasta feed will work best if at least three to four parents share cost and labor for the dinners.  The anticipated cost should be less than $30 if three to four people work together for each pasta feed.

The helpers usually help with food purchasing, preparation and serving.  Benefits include getting to know the athletes and bonding with other team parents.

PASTA FEED SUGGESTIONS

The amounts below served approximately 50-55.

9 pounds pasta* ($6)
3 large Contadina canned sauce from Costco (weight 6# 10 oz. each)
or about 9 quarts total (save out at least 2 quart sauce with no meat fro vegetarian choice)
2-3 pounds ground beef
8 loaves French bread** ($8) or 2 bags (36ct) of dinner rolls
1 package Costco iceburg salad mix with 2 heads Romaine lettuce ($7) or about 36 ounces of salad greens
Salad dressing (probably Ranch, Italian)
2-3 pounds small carrots ($3)
Cut up fruit (example: 1 watermelon + large grape tub from Costco = $12)
8-10 12 oz cans frozen lemonade concentrate ($10)
1 container Parmasean cheese ($3.50)
Large pan brownies (or cookies 3 x 24 ct. at Costco = $6 each container)
Plates, napkins, cups, serviceware fro 50-70

It is a good idea to offer vegetarian (non-meat) sauce as an alternative. Probably enough for ten or so.

* It is very helpful to have the pasta cooked up in advance. It can be stored in plastic containers and reheated to boilling before serving.

** Remember the Oroweat Outlet store.

Costs and quantities are estimates. Be flexible. Substitutions are okay. Just remember that the kids are healthy eaters.

Set a time after practice for the kids to arrive at your house (5:00 or 5:30). A lot of kids enjoy coming right after practice, if that works for you. Expect them to arrive during the course of an hour. They are very patient, so do not worry if you are cooking and they are arriving.

Provide a map or directions to your house via e-mail or paper. Phone numbers are helpful. Let the runners know about your details anytime the week before your gathering.
